Yes. If the two programs’ dates do not conflict, you may apply to both programs. HOWEVER, if a student is accepted into one of the programs, preference for admission into the second program will go to those students who have not applied to two programs. If an applicant is closed out of the program for which she applies, the Office of Pre-College Programs will automatically select you for your second choice. If a student is attending two programs, please note the following:
If a student decides not to attend the second program after starting the first, note our refund policy.
Spring Programs are open to young women who are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school.
Summer programs are open to young women are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school or Gap Year Students who graduated in 2020/21.

We require at least one recommendation from a non-parent that assesses the student’s academic performance. If the only individuals involved in instruction are parents, we accept recommendations for work done in a group situation, extra-curricular, or job setting that speak to a sense of effort, responsibility, teamwork, intellectual curiosity, or particular skills. On occasion, a request may be made for additional recommendation letters.
Decisions are made on a rolling basis. You should receive a decision within 15 business days of the office receiving a completed application. It is up to the student to make sure that all parts of the application have been received by the office.
If you are in this situation, you should contact our office ASAP. There is a chance your application was never completed or your decision letter may have been lost in transit. You can contact us at email@example.com or by phone at 212.854.8866.
Enrolling in Pre-College
Students will receive an acceptance letter via email with a link to register for their program(s). We ask that students register within two weeks of receiving their acceptance in order to secure their spot in their program.
After registering, enrolled students will begin to receive emails with enrollment forms to complete and submit to the PCP Office.
A $500 deposit is required at the time of registration to secure a student's enrollment. Families may pay their remaining balance in as many installments as they would like by logging into the student's registration portal (which they received access to in their admissions letter).
Unfortunately, we cannot allow students to participate in the program if they have an outstanding balance.
Tuition must be paid in full by Friday, February 26, 2021
Summer Session I and Ib
Tuition must be paid in full by Monday, June 14, 2021
Summer Session II

You will be able to select your class when you apply to an institute. If accepted, your admissions letter will state your program and class. If you apply to a class in an institute that has already filled, the PCP office will reach out to you so that you can provide your second choice class.
A $500 deposit is required at registration to secure your place in the institute/class you choose. We cannot enroll students in any classes unless we have received their deposit, even if you signed up for your classes using our online form. Unfortunately, we cannot honor requests for class changes once a student has been enrolled. Please note that the Pre-College Program reserves the right to cancel under-enrolled classes and place students in their next available choice.
No. In order to maintain the integrity of our program and keep class enrollment to a minimum, we can only place a certain number of students into each class. While we cannot guarantee enrollment into your first choice preference, we ask that you look to other additional class options that may match your interests in the best way possible.
If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, our office will make every effort to place students into their second choice class within that institute.
Yes Each student receives an individualized written evaluation from her instructor. These evaluations can be copied and included in college applications as supplemental recommendations.
Students will also receive a certificate of program completion signed by our Director.
Course materials such as textbooks and readers are included in your tuition fee with the exception of Contemporary Art Studio and Experiencing Architecture which require some additional materials. Students enrolled in either of those classes will receive a list of items to purchase from their instructor after enrolling.
Textbooks and readers will be distributed to students during Move in/Orientation weekend.
Students are expected to arrive to the first day of class with supplies such as notebooks, pens, paper, highlighters, laptops or tablets etc.
No and yes. No in the sense that students are not required to wear formal attire or uniforms to attend class. That said, we do expect students to be mindful of their appearance, and to dress appropriately for an academic setting.
Online Community and Course Needs
Classes are delivered synchronously at a mutually beneficial time for our students on both the east and west coast. We understand this will be a strain for some of our international students and will work with on ways to make the most of your class schedule. Classes take place on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Friday midday from 11:00 AM- 12:30 PM EST and Tues and Thurs afternoons from 2:00-3:30 PM EST. Enrichment and student life activities will be held in both the early day and evening time frames (10am EST- 8pm EST)
Our office is intentionally designing programs to foster bonds and community. In mid- May registrants will receive a student life survey to get a feel for your interests and hopes for this summer. We will then pair people in teams that join students from different Summer Institutes and courses within your institute based on your interests. Your team leader will meet with you several times throughout your program to host chats, movie nights, challenges, and other activities. Rising Seniors will also be paired together in our Junior Junction workshop series that is intended to give them additional college application preparation and advice from current College students.
Students complete labs at home using commonly available materials or lab kits sent to students' homes. Students can also complete an optional laboratory component to AP courses during our summer session.
Students are expected to have access to a laptop/desktop or tablet for instruction and completing assignments. For courses that need licensed software Barnard will notify you beforehand and where possible provide the software or a provide a discounted rate towards the software.
Students enrolled in our online classes will be given several assignments throughout their course. Assignments, class participation and attendance will be taken into account in your qualitative course evaluation that is sent to you within 3-4 weeks of your program end date along with a Certificate of Completion for the course.
